Jacob Jensen Design / Global Design Director

Born in Denmark in 1976, earned his MSc at the University of Aalborg, Denmark, Jakob Kjær Nielsen has spent his entire professional career and the best part of the last two decades holding key positions within Jacob Jensen Design. Today, he serves as Global Design Director based in the company’s iconic headquarters in the small town of Hejlskov, in Northern Denmark, where the company has been located for more than six decades. Jakob is responsible for implementing, upholding, and executing the values and principles that constituted the founding elements of one of Scandinavia’s first design pioneers and the company’s founder, Jacob Jensen.

He is also responsible for the integration of key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals within the company’s creative processes, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

In his global role, Jakob counts with extensive experience developing high-complexity projects with a wide range of Western and Asian clients together with the company’s sister studios in Shanghai, China, and Bangkok, Thailand. For over a decade, in addition to his role as expert consultant and designer within Jacob Jensen Design, Jakob has also been responsible for setting the design direction of the JACOB JENSEN® brand of products, a trademark under the Jacob Jensen Group of companies.

Together with his team of designers, Jakob continues to develop unique design solutions for a wide arrange of clients and partners. This has garnered him and his associates dozens of reputable international design awards including the prestigious Red Dot, iF, G Mark and German Design Awards, among others.
