Sébastien Maleville

Essential Studio / Co-Founder & Creative Director

Born in France and trained in industrial design in Paris, Sébastien has built a diverse design career across continents. With experience spanning Europe, China, and Southeast Asia, his passion lies in crafting enduring design solutions with lasting positive impact.

Currently, he leads the charge at Essential Studio, a company he co-founded in 2024. The studio partners with businesses in Southeast Asia to develop sustainable and impactful design solutions and brands, leveraging the expertise of a talented team. Previously, from 2014 to 2024, he served as the Creative Director & Branch Manager for Jacob Jensen Design (JJD). During his tenure, he spearheaded the establishment of JJD’s design teams in both China and Thailand.

Sébastien’s dedication extends beyond the commercial sphere and is also committed to design education, which reflects his passion for sharing knowledge.. Since 2016, he has been a lecturer in industrial design at King Mongkut University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), JJD’s former partner university in Bangkok.
