The principle aims of the building were to accommodate the needs of a growing young family, maximise spatial economies as a low-cost build, all whilst exploring material expressiveness. But at the core of its philosophy, the home should teach the children what architecture could be and rather than a collection of set gyprock and flush surfaces, it should show its materiality and imperfections, the humanity of construction trades.
With three renovations in seven years, it is a scaffold for change with each new iteration representing a significant milestone for the family. The interiors reflect this also, with various finishes, materials, and furnishings continuing to evolve, as do the needs and tastes of its occupants.
