Logan City Council worked with the community to provide a new water park, which was installed adjacent to the existing playground, located at Wembley Road, Logan Gardens. The space was focussed on community interaction and included multiple interconnected areas for play, socialising, and recreation.

Given the context of a playground, the forms needed to be playful and functional. Integrated circular forms were chosen to provide a method of joining and tessellating the modules. The cutouts in the furniture modules and the stepped heights and overlapping forms of the shelter modules allowed the elements to articulate to achieve the complex site layout requirements. The solution provided by Street and Garden was able to seamlessly integrate with the landscape design, including being able to easily adapt to straight, curved, and angled changes in direction of the adjacent pathways and grassed areas.

The project required a greater level of collaboration as it involved multiple teams throughout the entire creative process. Street + Garden worked closely with Logan City Council, Urbis, and Interface Landscapes to jointly develop the concepts and solutions that were supplied.

Bio
Based in Brisbane, Australia, the Street + Garden design studio is an award-winning team specialising in product design for urban spaces. S+G was conceived around the idea that urban products can be much more than simply something to sit on; a reflection of a particular place, community, its natural and built assets, its history, aspirations and future that are important and synonymous with its site.
