This console table design is an attempt to take minimalism to an extreme and still inspire intrigue. As is the case with many minimalist pieces, the materials of construction are one of the most critical design elements: consisting of dissimilar hardwoods, smooth on some facades and carved on others to yield interesting contrasts of grains and textures. The use of a hidden internal mechanism and counterweight allows for disassembly and enables the piece's dramatic asymmetry. Although this design is extremely simple - consisting of only two rectangular prism shapes - many iterations were required before arriving at a final set of dimensions and aesthetics that feel perfectly satisfying.
