Your Move side table/coffee table

Each table is designed and made in Britain by some of our finest crafts men and women. Their skill and attention to detail are evident in every piece. Display your favourite objects in style or use it for coffee and a cake, It’s your move. Whatever you do, you’ll love its clean lines and simple elegance.

Inspiration:

V&A Dundee launched a competition to design an interesting car charging point to be placed close to the museum. I chose to design my charging point in the shape of a Chess Pawn. My inspiration at the time was the Netflix series 'The Queens Gambit'.
I fell in love with the humble pawn and its classic form. It was an obvious choice to use it for a stool or table design with its pedestal base.

Materials and manufacture summary:

Glued up from pieces of kiln-dried timber. The thickness is chosen to be less wasteful/more economical. This was 3 inch - and the alignment of the pieces was for strength and appearance. The blank was then turned using traditional wood turning tools. Canadian maple was chosen for its aesthetic qualities and durability. 9hrs of hand turning went into each table.
