The Mercury Drop Dining Table is a copyrighted design made by Sara Hayat for Sara Hayat Design. It is aesthetically unique. The table legs are inverted U with wooden spheres suspended in the middle. The table top is made from solid mahogany wood with tapered edges. The tapered edges are also accentuated with warm brass lining. The sleek and minimalistic table top highlights and puts all the focus on the unique and elegant table legs.

The inspiration for the spheres came for this came from finding piece of ball bearings while putting my 8 year old sons scooter together. It also came from looking at old thermometers and seeing the mercury suspended in the glass tube. I thought long and hard about how I can incorporate these details in furniture. I was designing a dining table at the time and it became apparent that they would make the perfect table legs. That became the focus and the table top just added to the overall design.

Sara Hayat is the Bronze A’Design Award winner and founder of Sara Hayat Design. She has over 10 design copy rights to her name and has been published in several acclaimed publications like Luxe Interiors and Design and Robb Report. Her designs are based on the idea of aesthetic force and how it has a way of leaving us changed, forcing us to see and feel beyond what we could’ve imagined possible.
