What's the capacity of a round table in the library? My observation answers: one party. If one takes a seat, they occupy the entire table and repel others unless absolutely necessity. The situation alters if the table has an elongated rectangular form factor. People will still join, just leaving an open spot in between.

B-47 is a chair that discusses the nuance of boundaries for people in shared spaces.

I interviewed those working in public areas. Many choose to work there for connection to the outside world. The space, ambient noise, and the glimpse of other people working create an atmosphere that users find helpful in concentrating on their tasks. Conversely, interviewees convey a search for enclosure and privacy despite being in a communal space.

B-47 aims to embody the intricate play of distances in public spaces by manipulating sheet metal's curves and volume. The material choice represents the irritation of external intrusion into privacy: cold and hard, yet people still fall for its reflection on one's internality. Laser cutter, slip roll, and rivets divert the brutality into a gentle enclosure, demonstrating our effort to claim a personal zone in this shared world.
