I was tasked to develop an original design that would showcase my individual style while being visually stunning and appropriate for manufacturing and mass production. I identified what I believe to be my style coining it as "Modern-flow" a combination of three key elements, Modern, Flow, and Rigid. I was extremely inspired by Frank Ghery's work in the field of architecture for this project and the correlation of Chinese Hanzi symbols with the actual meaning of the word. The chair is named "MuYi" or the rough English translation is "Wooden Chair". My goal when designing the chair was to create something that would be flat pack able as well, along with being economically viable for production via laminated plywood. I have learned alot about the production of furniture through this chair and I am proud to show you MuYi.
