Designed by a senior architect in Canada and fabricated by an emerging talent in woodworking, this stool is a social enterprise. Showcasing expertise in youth and supported by the local Community Woodshop, this stool offers something new to the field of fine furniture and craft.
Fabricated by sustainable forests in Canada, this solid maple volume is a cube deconstructed. With its simple square shape on one side floating over thin profile legs and its contrasting fluid cutout on the opposing side, this piece of furniture is a conversation between the fluid and the rigid, the line and the curve, and the male and the female. The drape of seat balances over the structure of the legs in a manner that defies expectations of stability, yet is unmoving in its grounding.
A clean cube from one angle and a sensuous curve from another, the placement of this stool in a space can be oriented in manner as a quiet gesture or a bold announcement.
