The Fold Stool draws inspiration from the subtle interplay of light and form, exploring how light interacts with angled surfaces, where shifts in geometry create varying brightness and shadows. Although the material remains constant, each facet of the stool reflects light differently depending on its orientation, allowing the same surface to present distinct visual characteristics. This play of light transforms the stool from a static object into something that feels alive, responding to its environment as the day progresses. It’s an exercise in balance—between consistency and change—inviting users to experience how light can alter and redefine even the simplest forms.

At the core of the Fold Stool is a minimal yet functional approach to wood joinery. The angular facets are not only a design feature but also a structural solution. The faceted mortises continue through the seat, forming a seamless and sturdy connection between the legs and top. This detail emphasizes the stool’s durability while maintaining consistency in its iconic silhouette.
