The Leatherwood Chair is a bold fusion of tradition and modernity, crafted from premium American walnut and upholstered with the finest Tuscan cowhide leather. This chair embodies strength and precision, featuring intricate Japanese joinery that locks each geometric component seamlessly, ensuring durability without the need for screws or nails.

The seat is made of authentic leather, softened and secured using a unique corset-inspired lacing system, where rope threads elegantly through coin-shaped joints. This detail not only enhances the chair’s visual appeal but also adds a subtle contrast—balancing its strong, masculine presence with a refined, gentle touch.

Designed with a contemporary edge, the chair’s frame features sharp yet harmonious cutouts, creating a striking silhouette that modernizes the timeless warmth of wood and leather. The inspiration behind this design stems from the materials themselves—an exploration of how traditional elements can be reimagined for the modern era. The result is a chair that feels both familiar and innovative, a statement piece built to last for generations.

Bio
I’m Ibraheem Tannous, an industrial design student at Shenkar College of Engineering, Design, and Art. I love creating unique and complex designs that challenge traditional manufacturing methods. For me, design is about pushing boundaries and finding innovative solutions that blend aesthetics with functionality. I’m always looking for ways to make something new, something that stands out—not just visually, but in the way it’s made and used.
