This pendant light embodies the idea of growing from where it breaks, inspired by the Eaton Fire that swept through California this January.
While walking through Altadena—a community deeply scarred by the flames—I encountered a fractured branch. In that moment of brokenness, I placed a light within its split, watching as warmth radiated through the damaged wood. The resulting design captures this transformative act, balancing organic wood-like textures with fluid movement to evoke quiet calm, safety, and resilience.
Sustainability lives at the heart of this piece. The current prototype is 3D printed in PLA, yet future iterations will use recycled wood filament sourced from fire-damaged trees—transforming loss into purposeful design.
This light stands as part of a larger collection, each piece a testament to renewal. Together, they remind us that even from ashes, hope can rise—glowing brightest where the breaks once were.
