Chair C1 V1 is a minimalist lounge chair featuring a sculptural steel rod frame paired with a handwoven seat and back. The low, reclined profile and angular geometry give it a light, architectural presence while maintaining comfort through flexible woven support.
Three butterfly-shaped steel rod forms (for the seat, back, and legs) are welded to a continuous loop spine to create a unified load-bearing frame. The seat and back are tensioned with woven Danish cord, forming suspended planes that seem to float and invite a relaxed posture.
Although the piece was hand-fabricated by the designer, it is conceived for efficient production. The frame geometry is based on a small number of similar shapes suitable for simple jigging. The structure relies on continuous load paths rather than complex assemblies, minimizing part count and weld points. The tensioned weave eliminates the need for panels, fasteners, or upholstery systems.
