The Gota Armchair is developed from a continuous curved surface using multilayer laminated wood, a core technique in Fahrer’s production.
The design integrates structure, seat, and backrest into a single unified form, reducing fragmentation and reinforcing continuity. Its geometry is defined by controlled curvature that balances structural performance, ergonomic support, and formal clarity.
The manufacturing process requires precise control of lamination, curvature radius, and material behavior, ensuring stability while preserving fluidity. This approach transforms a single gesture into a load-bearing system.
Compact in scale, the armchair combines visual density with comfort, offering an enveloping seating experience. The absence of segmented elements enhances structural coherence and user interaction.
Design Concept
The project explores continuity as both form and structure. The armchair is conceived as a single gesture translated into material, rather than an assembly of parts. This approach reduces visual and constructive fragmentation, emphasizing precision, clarity, and integration between ergonomics, structure, and fabrication.
