TOTEM
Stackable & Rotatable Containers
TOTEM is an astonishingly simple idea. 5 simple containers of varying dimensions that can be transported, like a babooshka, one in the other, to form a compact package. The stowed containers can thus be easily transported without taking up valuable space and therefore reducing freighting costs.
Once unpacked, the containers are simple stacked, one on top of the order to form a simple storage system. Each container is equipped with an indented circular track on the underside, and four simple holes on the upper side.
Simple castors are inserted into the holes of each container, allowing free and easy rotation for each individual container.
Totem can carry books as well as other household objects. The closed sides can be used to carry postcards, chalkboards or can be equipped with magnetic surfaces.
Bio Charles was born in Lagos Nigeria. He achieved his diploma in architecture, and a masters degree in urban design at the Oxford Brookes University, followed by work experience in various architectural practises in London, Paris and Zürich.
He was appointed professor of architectural design theory at the Berne University of Applied Sciences in 2008, where he continues to teach part time. Working in the fields of architecture, interior design, product, furniture and lighting design his studio considers architecture in its variety of scales.
