In Xintiandi's iconic building, the designer integrates Fujian culture and architecture while preserving the essence of Fujian cuisine. The design highlights stone column traces, club wine cabinets, and a mix of antique and contemporary furniture, enhancing the space's elegance. By creating a symbolic language, Fujian culture harmoniously blends with Shanghai's local architecture, resulting in a distinctive interior design.
Design Challenge:
The challenge in the design was to seamlessly blend Fujian culture with Shanghai's Haipai architecture, creating a unique and sophisticated interior design without conflicting with the architectural style of Xintiandi.
Design Result:
The red-brick ancient houses symbolizing Fujian's Minnan region serve as cultural carriers that adorn the spatial interfaces. The division of colors and materials establishes a sense of hierarchy, delineating the layers of each dish. The craftsmanship of stone columns is magnified throughout the three-dimensional space. By studying the texture of brick red, it is incorporated into the overall elements, forming a complete symbolic language.
