The Scimitar Stool echoes the iconic blade symbol of Central Asia in the profile of each leg. This elegant sculptural stool is an exercise in stripping back and simplifying to use only three identical components.

The singular nature of the components of this stool makes the manufacturing process streamlined and economical in the use of materials. The legs nest together like sardines, head to tail; minimising waste and using standardised wide boards and short offcuts.

Each leg is arched using an innovative kerf technique, which forms a conical knee bend that cambers the seating element inwards. The joined seating elements create a shallow ergonomic bowl with a triangular void, which serves as a carrying handle.

The fine detailing of the splined kerf knee joint is predominantly exposed on this simple, yet elegantly formed stool; whether it’s standalone, grouped or stacked in multiples, in a spiralling formation.

This stool can be made from a selection of sustainable timbers to suit client preference.
