Frames and armrests are made from solid wood, hand carved by craftsmen using traditional Japanese tools. The distinctive armrests could only be expressed with blades and planes, and it is made to fit your arms perfectly.
The construction of front legs and back legs are different, which makes this design complex, but the joineries are all done in 90 degrees angle, to make it easy to assemble.
Seat high is set at a lower 350mm, and is designed with seat face and angle to meet the needs of a chair to relax on. The deep curve of the backrest is made with just the right amount of fillings for more comfort.

Bio Shigeki Matsuoka is a furniture designer, craftsman, and the head of furniture studioKOMA. He is a furniture craftsman who knows how to create chairs that are not only beautiful to look at, but also strong, structurally sound, and durable. Every part of the chair has a meaning and is made up of the minimum number of parts necessary to create a beautiful chair that is comfortable to sit on and touch.
