"kanso" is a chair that caters to the needs of work and leisure, seamlessly integrating into casual café environments that appeal to both students and professionals. The design centers around developing an ergonomically sound chair that comfortably fits a range of body types, drawing inspiration from the trend of working in cafés and the foundational principles of Japanese design, which emphasize simplicity and functionality.

Soft maple wood was chosen for its soft, appealing tones, lightweight, and suitability for frequent use and rearrangement in café spaces. The wood's color and practical qualities make it an ideal choice for creating a welcoming and versatile environment.

The construction process involved CNC machining the legs, seat, and backrest, followed by precise cuts to create the uniquely angled legs using a table saw. Significant attention was given to handcrafted details and compound joinery, including chiseled seat cutouts to accommodate the angled legs and a curved back.

With its harmonious blend of soft maple wood and minimalist design, kanso offers a serene, functional elegance that elevates any space.
