Inspired by both historical and modern Danish chairs, this piece is not just functional but also embodies what Maria Bruun describes as "sculptural minimalism." Crafted from bent lamination in five parts, the chair's form flows seamlessly from the backrest to the armrests, down to the legs, and finally reconnects with the backrest. The upholstery weaves through the horizontal supports and is secured with a wooden piece, creating a continuous flow that enhances the chair's strong presence while maintaining a light and airy aesthetic. The design challenges the boundaries of what natural materials can achieve, redefining the conventional understanding of a chair and pushing beyond the traditional backrest, seat, and four legs to explore new possibilities in form and function.
Bio Born and raised in Hong Kong, I had little exposure to the design industry until I pursued my bachelor’s degree at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco. It was there that I discovered my passion for furniture design. Now, I'm further honing my skills and knowledge by pursuing a master’s degree in Furniture Design at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen.
