Yir Bbop is a restaurant pendant lamp inspired by cultural elements from China's ethnic minorities. There are 56 ethnic groups in China, and I have two very close friends, called Api and Mahai, who are from one of them—the Yi ethnic group. I incorporated two of the most well-known Yi elements, silver crown and Fire Torch Festival to design this lamp. The most challenging part of the design process was balancing culture and modernity. It is really difficult to refine the transformation of these cultural elements. Yir Bbop can be hung in any restaurant with an ethnic ambiance, enhancing the dining experience while promoting the unique Yi culture of China.
