ORUHA Chair transforms the experience of sitting, combining comfort with sculptural form and emotional engagement. Inspired by the movement of waves, it embodies the interplay of tension and softness through flowing organic curves meticulously carved from solid wood. Sharp edges meet gentle surfaces, creating striking visual and tactile contrast while offering intimate comfort. Designed as a “private sanctuary within a public space,” it becomes personal and protective when occupied, shaping the surrounding environment without compromising accessibility. Its complex geometry could not be realized with conventional woodworking methods; the final form was achieved entirely by hand through iterative prototyping, direct material dialogue, and refined sensory judgment. Influenced by the designer’s background in video editing, emotional sequences were deconstructed and reassembled in three dimensions, allowing the chair to communicate feeling through form rather than narrative. ORUHA Chair exemplifies the integration of craftsmanship, emotional design, and sculptural furniture, delivering striking presence alongside subtle, intimate, and tactile engagement for users.
