This rocking sofa embodies the highest level of craftsmanship and offers unparalleled comfort. Through extensive testing of angles and curves for the rockers—carefully adjusting the center of gravity and balance—we incorporated a discreet stopper that allows the sofa to sway and recline with just the right sensation. When not in use, the stopper also stabilizes the sofa securely.
The six signature spokes are inspired by fingers and hands gently holding something precious. Aligned vertically, they provide balanced support for the head, shoulders, back, and waist. Each spoke, arm, and headrest are individually carved from solid wood by skilled craftsmen using traditional Japanese hand tools.
We were equally meticulous in selecting the materials for the cushions. The back cushion is filled with 100% high-density feathers, offering soft yet resilient support, while the seat cushions are constructed with a two-layer urethane structure to prevent excessive sinking and reduce strain on the lower back.
This sofa evokes intimate, timeless scenes—a baby sleeping peacefully in mother’s arms, or an elderly woman knitting quietly. It is a sofa designed to accompany you throughout your life.
Bio Shigeki Matsuoka is a furniture designer, craftsman, and the head of furniture studioKOMA. He is a furniture craftsman who knows how to create chairs that are not only beautiful to look at, but also strong, structurally sound, and durable. Every part of the chair has a meaning and is made up of the minimum number of parts necessary to create a beautiful chair that is comfortable to sit on and touch. He is also committed to the development of young people.
