LE SQUARE : As if rediscovering a place
In all cities steeped in history, there are places that have been lost and places that have been rediscovered. The Square is one of those places that remain in our memories and imaginations. A place that seems to have always existed, in one way or another. This is the case for this building, which has found and rediscovered its splendour through its daily interaction with the city and the codes of Casablanca. In the Gauthier district, an Art Deco silhouette, the European city and its modernity, an almost nautical architectural vocabulary, the port, the sea view, the great mosque and the great city of Casablanca. Everything brings back memories and images of an endearing place, once a meeting point for the youth of Casablanca. Entering the building, stepping into the lobby, searching for that forgotten memory, that feeling of déjà vu mixed with curiosity about a space that plays on the alternation of raw and sophisticated surfaces. The poetic idea of imagining that we have focused on what is valuable and has been embellished to enhance the whole.An eclectic cocoon where time seems to stand still. Somewhere between the 50s and today.
