Tuhl is a seating object that reimagines the relationship between chair and table. Few pieces of furniture are so closely connected in daily life, yet they usually remain separate. Tuhl brings them together in a single form. Based on the archetypal four-legged chair, the design merges the backrest with a tabletop, reflecting the familiar proportions between seat and surface. This fusion opens new modes of use: sitting, leaning, placing or working. Rather than presenting a final solution, Tuhl reveals the dialogue between the two objects and invites us to explore what lies in between.
The result is a hybrid piece that is neither simply chair nor table but a discursive object offering multiple forms of interaction without privileging one. It embraces ambiguity and opens possibilities for the body to find new postures and supports. Made from anonymous semi-finished materials, the design highlights the contrast between elements while affirming their essential connection. Raw and elemental, Tuhl becomes an invitation to question conventions, rethink everyday gestures and explore how furniture can create unexpected encounters between body, space and use.
