This chair explores new formal language and the structural potential of bent plywood. Its key feature is an innovative seat shell where the backrest and rear leg form one continuous element, creating a sculptural yet logical design where form and function align.
Comfort plays a central role: the backrest follows a natural ergonomic curve, while the front edge of the seat allows easy sitting and comfortable leg positioning. Subtle rubber supports beneath the seat enable slight movement, enhancing comfort.
The front leg, made of bent metal tubing, visually separates from the wooden shell, giving a light, almost floating appearance while remaining securely attached.
Bent plywood provides strength, stability, and lightness, enabling fluid shapes with a clean, natural look. Efficient production and FSC-certified wood reduce waste and support sustainability. The chair can be locally produced, easily assembled, and offered in various finishes.
With its distinctive form, it suits both classic and contemporary interiors as a strong, characterful piece.
Bio The startup of the Design Lab in 2021 is based on decades of experience, and aims for a wider range of ‘design assignments’, ranging from furniture, lighting, objects, utensils,…
While designing both existing techniques and digital tools are used.
There is a vivid interest in researching new techniques, materials, ergonomics, ecology, social and economic aspects in the designing process.
The development process looks for the essence of a design, for form, material, production and user-friendliness in dialogue with the various parties.
