JOY-NT is a modular play kit that lets children build their own secret hideout and create a personal space through hands-on assembly. The project addresses a common gap in children’s environments: while adult spaces often prioritize openness and simplicity, children naturally seek enclosed, structured places where they can feel safe, calm, and imaginative.
The kit combines lightweight EPP foam panels with angle-generating joints inspired by door hinges, enabling children to construct a wide variety of spatial forms—such as corners, tunnels, and small rooms—by themselves. Through building and rebuilding, children gain ownership of their space, develop independence, and experience creative problem-solving in a physical, intuitive way. Each configuration becomes a playful “snapshot” of their memories, supporting emotional attachment and long-term engagement.
JOY-NT is unique in how it turns space-making into a child-led design experience: safe materials, flexible geometry, and structural freedom are integrated into a kit that empowers children not only to play inside a space, but to design the space itself.
Bio I am an industrial design student who creates products that enrich everyday life. I enjoy translating small observations into meaningful, human-centered solutions through hands-on making, testing, and iteration. I believe strong outcomes come from collaboration and calm leadership, and I focus on refining form, function, and detail to deliver experiences that feel intuitive, safe, and emotionally engaging.
