The design of the stool expresses movement and flow, created through research and experimentation with bending soft materials, such as plywood, paper, leather, and cardboard. To create the stool, I chose to express this movement through a hard and static material. This contrast generates a sense of softness and elegance while maintaining stability and rigidity. The space surrounding and within the sculptural form is a key element in the design – the essence of the design is reflected in the feeling of movement created as the space "blows" around and within the form, making the internal volume an integral part of the object.
The material I chose is birch wood – an affordable and accessible wood, which, combined with sculptural handcraft, transforms it into a luxurious and unique material. I left the inner space raw and unprocessed as a tribute to the production process that blends handcraft with innovative milling technology, defining the modern and dynamic appearance of the stool.
