Daejo is a series of modern wooden stools that follows a holistic perspective and wishes to embody ideas of respect, affection and attraction on everyday objects. The series focuses on the stool, as a well known ancient furniture that has history and function as an inseparable object of our lives. Daejo contains different elements of contrast in each stool which its rule is to empower the beauty of creation. The design focuses on the visual elements (shapes, composition, material) to attract users, evoke delightful emotions and provide different emotional experience.

The series was inspired by the philosopher Soetsu Yanagi who wrote the book “The Beauty of Everyday Things”, 2019 - which offers a different way to observe our everyday objects. Yanagi writes, “The objects that fill our everyday lives are our constant companions. As such, they should be made with care and built to last, treated with respect and even affection. They should be things of beauty.” The series follows those ideas and is motivated by the will to deepen our relationship with the objects that surround us.

Bio
My name is Tom Man, Industrial Designer based in Tel-Aviv, Israel. I was born on July 11, 1993 in Haifa, Israel.
Since 2021, I visualize and design as a freelance designer for companies, start ups, individuals. My works and products featured on some of the most important design platforms such as, Yanko Design, DesignWanted, PhotoVouge and others.
My personal design projects focus on the visual elements as I explore how shapes, composition and materials have in their power to attract users, evoke delightful emotions and provide different emotional experiences.
